Taking Back Our Identity Day 2
Day 2: The Seven Things God Hates
Scripture
Proverbs 6:16–19
“These six things the Lord hates… a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run swiftly to evil, a false witness who breathes lies, and one who spreads discord among brothers.”
Devotional
God does not hate people—He hates the behaviors that destroy people and relationships.
Each of the seven things listed in Proverbs attacks identity:
1. Pride distorts humility
2. Lies destroy truth
3. Violence destroys life
4. Wicked plans corrupt the heart
5. Running toward evil creates addiction to sin
6. False testimony destroys trust
7. Sowing discord destroys unity
When we tolerate these things, the enemy gains ground in our lives. But when we reject them, we begin reclaiming the character of Christ within us.
Reflection Questions
1. Which of these seven areas challenges me the most?
2. How might the enemy be using this weakness to attack my identity?
3. What step can I take today to pursue righteousness instead?
Prayer
God, search my heart and reveal anything in me that displeases You. Remove pride, deception, and division from my life. Help me walk in truth and integrity. Amen.
