Taking Back Our Identity Day 1
Weekly Devotional
Taking Back What the Enemy Stole: Your Identity
Key Theme Scripture
Proverbs 8:13
“The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogance, and the evil way, and the perverted mouth, do I hate.”
Our identity in Christ is not just about what we believe—it is about what we love and what we reject. When sin enters our lives, the enemy begins to steal our identity piece by piece. But through Christ, we can reclaim who God created us to be.
Day 1: Identity Begins with the Fear of the Lord
Scripture: Proverbs 8:13
Devotional
The fear of the Lord is not about being terrified of God—it is about having such deep reverence for Him that we begin to hate what destroys our relationship with Him.
One of the ways the enemy steals our identity is by making sin seem normal. Culture tells us pride is confidence, arrogance is strength, and compromise is freedom. But God calls these things evil because they distort who we were created to be.
Taking back your identity begins with a decision:
Love what God loves. Hate what God hates.
When we align our hearts with God’s heart, we begin to rediscover who we truly are.
Reflection Questions
What attitudes or behaviors have I tolerated that God clearly calls evil?
Do I love righteousness as much as I hate sin?
How does reverence for God shape my daily choices?
Prayer
Lord, teach my heart to honor You. Help me love what You love and hate what destroys my relationship with You. Restore my identity as someone who walks in righteousness. Amen.
